Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

but because of the people who don't do anything about it."

Welcome to My Web Home

Notice: Alas, the PB&J & BLT are no more! I moved last December and the layout had to go...no-one wants to buy a house with a free model railroad layout thrown-in. So....I'm in the process of gathering all my photo albums on Picasa, which is a much better place to organize them and offers greater customizing of albums and photo captions. Visit my FINAL PB&J model photo album at:

https://picasaweb.google.com/114733324225971097951/PBJFinal#

(obviously, you will cut and paste that monstrosity into your adress line if the link doesn't work from here).

Please note that the model railroad photos on this web site (the one you're looking at) were very preliminary and I'll leave them here but I won't be updating them. Any and all future updates will be in the Picasa albums. The existing PB&J photo links are at the bottom of this page.

As of 10-3-11 you can still find all my photo albums at:    http://www.facebook.com/aebarri
I also will be putting the remainder of these existing photo albums and any new ones on Picasa in the near future (in other words, I'm working on it). I'll post the new link address(es) as soon as I get them. In the mean time, check out my modeling page on Facebook:

Here's what's new—

The Current Reading List:
  • The Enigma War - Jozef GarlinskiA very well-researched and comprehensive exposition of the allied efforts to break the secret "enigma" code machines of the axis powers in WWII. The book covers the complete history of the machines and the how the heroes of Bletchley Park in England worked tirelessly to stay on top of the constantly changing cyphers. A surprisingly good, engaging book.
  • What in the World is Going On? - (Almost) the latest book by Dr. David Jeremiah, well-known pastor and author of  books on Biblical topics. Here he answers the top ten questions about why we are facing a world gone mad. A very illuminating and easily-read book that's right on the money and wholly contemporary.
  • The Mind of Adolph Hitler - An in-depth analysis of the psychology of the man, Hitler. Walter Langer was a psychiatrist working for the O.S.S. (Forerunner of the CIA) to come up with a profile of the German dictator during the war. His insights and conclusions are astounding and serve up a totally new picture of the evil genius.
  • My New Order - Raoul De Roussy De Sales, editor.
  • Going Rogue- Sarah Palin's odyssey in the world of politics and life. Nice to hear her side of the story, a.k.a. the truth, not propaganda filtered through the Lame Stream Media.
  •  Small Layout Scrapbook- Carl Arendt: A wonderful book about very small but fully operational Micro-sized model railroad layouts. This will probably be my new direction in 3-D art from now on. Building and detailing big layouts is less appealing as I get older.
  • Decision Points- George W. Bush's description of the thornier issues he had to deal with during his time in office. Nice to see that he didn't give himself a walk...if he "done good" he lets himself get the credit, a bit. If he didn't "do so good" he takes the blame too. A nicely balanced look into the guys thinking.
  •  Mein Kampf- Yes, really. I haven't read this since I was a kid and didn't understand it then. I figure if the "Spirit of Anti-Christ" is alive and well then I want to know what hell on earth is coming next and know the signs of the next A-C. This is a ridiculous book by a rambling author who can't write anything except stream-of-conciousness ravings.
  • Hitler's Second Book-  Yes, he wrote a second one and it's even more evil than the first two-volume work of Mein Kampf because now he's more crystallized in his hatred, and more firm in his plans for restoring the glory of the German people, including his plan for lebensraum ("living" room) which, according to him, could only come from the east. A very hard read due to his rambling preaching.
  • Living in God's Love- Chronicle of Billy Graham's last crusade in New York City. Complete transcripts of all three days. Truly the end of an incredible era, and a nice cap to his incredible ministry.
  • Demonic- The latest from conservative queen Ann Coulter. This is an exposé of how the libertoads and demoncrats use mob psychology and tactics to get their way. It's quite a fascinating book.
  • Unleashing the Church- Frank Tillapaugh.  Actually re-reading this for the umpteenth time. I still find something new everytime I read it.
  • Blue Planet, Green Shackles- Vaclav Klaus, incumbent president of The Czech Republic. Major treatise on the myth of global warming.
  • The Names of God- Lester Sumrall.  An important exposition of an interesting topic-- What do all those Hebrew names actually mean for us today?
  • Democrats Do the Dumbest Things- Bill Crawford. Blow-by-blow description of leading and not-so-well-known democrats and their less-than-stellar capers.
  •  In the Path of Hitler's Third Reich-- Ian Westell. This tabloid style book traces "the journey from victory to defeat", in detail, year by year from 1933 through 1945. Lavishly illustrated; excellent resource photos.
  • All I Need to Know About Animal Behavior I learned
    in Loehmann's Dressing Room-
    Erma Bombeck-- My second-favorite author.
  • C.S. Lewis:
    • Narnia- the collection (all 7 books) AWESOME!
    • Anything else I can find by him
  • R is for Rocket-  Ray Bradbury-- A collection of great Short stories by my favorite
    Science-fiction writer.

I think I need to stay away from used book stores!

  • Current Activities:

    •  It's official—the house was sold last December and I moved to Spring Hill, about two hours north of SRQ. I'll be moving into a much more affordable rental situation which should free up more funds to use for paying down debts.
    • I gave up shopping at Wal-Mart for everything except what I can't get elsewhere, which ain't much. Hey folks! Want to get rid of overpriced, Chinese junk? Try shopping elsewhere. Wal-Mart may have the lowest prices but did you ever notice that their stuf just doesn't last? Ever wonder why? Shop somewhere else, pay a few more bucks and enjoy everything longer. Remember: If you buy cheap, you buy twice.
    • General Grocery shopping at Publix. The absolute best store around for everything but meat and produce. I have even made the switch to their pharmacy, their reputation is first-class in that area too. (The preceding was an uncompensated endorsment for Publix Supermarkets)
    • Shopping for meat and some fish at Winn-Dixie or Sweetbay. There are no better deals for meat and fish than at these stores. Publix does have good shrimp sales though.
    • Produce shopping at one of the many fine "farm stands" we have around here. The stuff is fresh, as local as possible, and much less expensive than the supermarkets. Example: tomatoes, which tend to be pricey anyway are currently 2.99 a LB at the supermarket but 1.49 at the farm shop. Plus, the tomatoes at the farm shop are still coming from FL, not CA, and they're grown on real farms, outdoors--not in a greenhouse.

  •
    • And of course, let's not forget that I'm.....

Now Workin' on the NEW railroad!
It'll be a variation on the venerable "Gum Stump & Snowshoe" by Chuck Yungkurth back in the '60s.
Stay tuned for Photos to be posted on Picasa!
